Search efforts remain ongoing for Tessa Goverse, a colleague of the United Nations Environment Programme who was reported missing after a hiking trip on Salève.
According to information shared by UNEP, Goverse arrived in Geneva last week on official mission from Nairobi and was last known to have been in the office at the International Environment House on Friday, June 19. Authorities believe she traveled to the Salève mountain area on the morning of Saturday, June 20, for a hike. She did not return to her hotel and has not been reachable by phone since then.
French and Swiss police have coordinated an extensive search operation alongside the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS). Specialized mountain rescue teams, including the Peloton de Gendarmerie de Haute Montagne (High Mountain Gendarmerie Platoon), have also been involved in efforts to locate her in the rugged terrain surrounding the mountain.
UNEP has appealed to the public to share information and circulate her photograph through personal and professional networks in hopes that someone may have seen her before or during her hike. Investigators continue to seek witnesses who may have been in the Salève area on June 20 and who could provide information that may assist search teams.
Authorities have urged anyone with relevant information regarding Tessa Goverse’s whereabouts or movements to contact emergency services through 112 in France or 117 in Switzerland. The search remains active as family, colleagues, and rescue personnel continue hoping for a breakthrough.
